Stated plainly

How we make money.

Democrez sells one thing: sessions to colleges and organisations. The responses people give are not for sale, in aggregate or otherwise. There is no advertising, and there could not be without breaking the product. Where something is undecided — app pricing, for instance — this page says so rather than describing an intention as a fact.

Institution sessions.

A college or organisation books a Human Judgment Lab for one batch and receives a behaviour report about that group. That is the transaction, and it is currently the only one. Pricing depends on batch size and is quoted directly rather than published, so that a figure reflects what an institution actually needs rather than becoming a number nobody revisits.

What the institution is paying for is a session and a report. What it is not paying for — and cannot pay for at any price — is anything about an individual student. That refusal is not a premium tier withheld from the base package; it is an absence in the system.

Why this particular revenue line is safe

Because what the institution wants and what the data needs point the same way. A session is worth booking only if students answer honestly, and students answer honestly only if nothing is scored, tracked or traceable. An institution asking for per-student output is asking for a worse session, and saying no protects the sale as much as it protects the student.

Very few revenue models have that property. Most create a slow pull in the wrong direction — a reason to collect a little more, retain a little longer, or nudge a little harder. This one does not, which is why it is the first one rather than the fallback.

The people answering are not the product. An institution pays for a session and a group picture; nothing about a participant is part of what changes hands.

Not for sale, at any price

Five things we
will not sell.

The right-hand column matters more than the left. A refusal that depends on us continuing to feel strongly about it is worth much less than one the system cannot carry out.

What we will not sellWhy it is not merely a policy
Individual responsesNo link between a person and an answer is recorded, so there is nothing to package
Contact detailsA phone verification is the only thing collected, and it is not attached to answers or exported anywhere
Advertising spaceAn advertiser buys attention, which would make time-spent the number we optimise. That is the exact drift the product is built against
A ranking of people or institutionsNo score exists to rank on. Producing one would mean building the thing six pages of this site promise not to build
Early access to unsealed figuresA figure that has not crossed its threshold and passed review does not leave, regardless of who is asking or what they would pay

Why a generated or early figure would poison every other figure. No fake reality

The obvious model, and why it is closed

Advertising cannot work here.

Not for ethical reasons, or not only. It is structurally incompatible with what this product does, and the incompatibility is worth spelling out because it is what makes the refusal durable.

It would need attention to grow

Ad revenue scales with time spent. The moment that becomes the number being watched, every decision starts leaning toward keeping people in the app — which is the drift the whole design resists.

The product is deliberately short

One situation a day, a round of about a minute, then nothing. That is bad inventory by design, and making it good inventory would mean making it a worse instrument.

Targeting needs a profile

There is no profile. No name, no interests, no behavioural history and no per-person record of how somebody answers. There is nothing an advertiser could target against.

It would compromise the situations

Cards sit in territories like Money and Health. An advertiser in either would have an interest in how those situations are written, and the mere possibility of that is enough to close the door.

The part usually left out

What if it is not enough?

A page like this normally ends at the previous section. The obvious follow-up question is what happens when one narrow revenue line does not cover a growing product, and that question deserves an answer rather than silence.

What we would do

Stay smaller for longer

Fewer people, slower building, a longer runway. The constraints on this site are cheaper to keep at a small scale than at a large one, and shrinking the ambition is the honest response to shrinking money.

What we would not do

Quietly relax a rule

Sell aggregate response data, add a score to lift retention, or fill the readings page to look established. Each would raise money and each would end the thing being sold. If those became the only options, the honest move is to stop rather than to continue as something else.

Why this is written down at all

Because the failure mode is never a decision to abandon a principle. It is a series of small, defensible steps taken under pressure, each one reasonable on the day. Writing the endpoint down in advance is one of the few things that makes those steps visible while they are being taken.

The record helps too. Readings are appended and never edited, so a change in what this platform does leaves a trace that a later reader can find. The Reality Bank

Questions

Straight answers.

Do you sell the response data?

No, and not in aggregate either. There is also nothing individual to sell — no link between a person and an answer is recorded anywhere, so a buyer asking for one would be asking for something that does not exist rather than something we are withholding.

Will there ever be advertising?

It is closed structurally rather than by preference. Ad revenue scales with attention, the product is deliberately a minute a day, and there is no profile to target against. Making it viable for an advertiser would mean making it useless as an instrument.

Is the app free?

DemoCrez is free to play and reveal standard readings. DemoCrez Premium is ₹999 per year for deeper private insights and personal reports. No advertising and no pay-to-win features.

What does an institution session cost?

It depends on batch size and is quoted directly. A published range would become a number institutions plan around, and it would rarely match what a particular session actually involves.

Could a company pay for a card about their industry?

No. A situation written or sponsored by somebody with an interest in the answer is not a situation, and the review that approves cards would reject it. Institution cards exist, but they feed that institution's own report and never the public record.

Are you funded by investors?

Anything material about ownership or funding that we are required to publish appears on this site. Beyond that we are not going to describe an arrangement in vague terms, because a vague description of who pays is worse than none.

What happens if institution revenue is not enough?

The plan is to stay smaller for longer rather than to relax a rule. If the only remaining options were selling data, adding a score or filling the readings page to look established, the honest move would be to stop rather than continue as something else.

Ask us anything about this page.

If something here is vaguer than it should be, we would rather be told.
