Why this exists
About Democrez.
Everybody carries a picture of how people behave, and almost nobody has ever checked it. Opinions about people are everywhere; measurements of them are almost nowhere. Democrez exists to produce one honest number — the distance between what you expect of people and what people did — and to refuse everything that would make that number easier to produce and worth less to read.
Measurement over engagement.
Almost every product that collects human responses ends up optimising for time spent. Not because anybody sets out to — because engagement is measurable, improvable and rewarded, and the accuracy of what is being collected is none of those things. A team that watches one number and not the other will drift, and the drift is invisible from the inside.
Democrez is built to make that drift hard. The mechanisms that would raise engagement are the same mechanisms that would corrupt the data, so refusing them is not restraint — it is the product working. No score means nobody answers to improve one. No streak means nobody returns out of obligation. No interpretation of your answers means there is nothing to come back and read about yourself.
The one number
One situation a day, where every option costs somebody something. You choose, you commit to a prediction about everyone else, and then you meet the verified figure. The distance is the Gap, and it is the only output. Nothing accumulates, nothing is ranked, and nothing follows it.
What is actually being measured
Not your morality, and not your intelligence. Your model of other people — how accurately you predict a population you have never met. That is a genuinely useful thing to know about yourself and a genuinely difficult thing to find out anywhere else, because almost nothing in ordinary life gives you feedback on it.
The interesting question is never whether you were right. It is how far off you were, and in which direction — because that is a fact about the distance between your world and everybody else's.
Written down on purpose
Six things that cannot
be traded away later.
Each of these is written as a constraint rather than a preference, because a preference survives until the first quarter it becomes expensive. Every one of them has a page explaining what it costs.
| The rule | What it stops us doing |
|---|---|
| Gray against gray | Writing situations with an obvious answer, which would be easier and would measure nothing |
| No fake reality | Filling a thin card with a plausible figure, or demonstrating the product with invented data |
| Min-N | Publishing early. It is why the readings page is still empty |
| Append-only records | Quietly correcting a result that turned out unflattering |
| The Human Seal | Letting anything publish itself, or on a schedule somebody needs to hit |
| Mirror, not judge | Adding a score, a streak or a verdict — the fastest way to grow, and the fastest way to ruin the data |

Common misreadings
Four things Democrez is not.
Each of these is a reasonable first guess from the outside, and each is worth correcting early.
Not a personality test
Nothing here sorts you into a type or describes you at all. The output is a fact about a population and your distance from it, not a label for you.
Not a poll
A poll records what people say about an issue. This records what people would do when both paths cost something — and asks you to predict it first.
Not a wellbeing product
Democrez does not aim to make you feel better, calmer or more understood. It reports a distance and stops, and that distance is sometimes uncomfortable.
Not a training tool
It does not teach you to read people better and does not claim it could. Such a product would need its own rules and its own evidence.
The team
Who is building this.
A small team in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Small enough that the constraints on this site are decisions somebody made rather than policies somebody inherited.

Why there is not much here about us
Because it should not matter much. A platform asking you to trust a number should be judged on what it refuses to do with that number, not on the biographies of the people who built it. Everything above that is a legal requirement is published; everything else is on the pages describing the rules.
Questions
Straight answers.
What is Democrez actually for?
Finding out how accurate your picture of other people is. You commit to a prediction about what a population did in a specific situation, then you meet the verified figure. The distance between the two is the only thing the platform produces, and almost nothing in ordinary life gives you that feedback.
What does "measurement over engagement" mean in practice?
That we refuse the features which would grow usage fastest — scores, streaks, rankings, interpretations of your answers — because they are the same features that would make people answer strategically. Refusing them is not restraint; it is the condition under which the numbers stay worth collecting.
Who decides what counts as a good situation?
A person, before release, applying a test that is published in full. A card where one option can only be defended by pretending does not ship. That review is recorded with a date and a card version.
Is Democrez neutral on politics and religion?
Those subjects are excluded rather than balanced. A platform measuring them would be read as taking a side however carefully the cards were written, and answers would become declarations of identity rather than accounts of what somebody would do.
How do you make money?
Institution sessions are the current route, and the full picture — including what we have decided not to sell — is on its own page. The short version is that the response data is not for sale and advertising is not a model we can use without breaking the product.
Why is the public readings page empty?
Because no card has yet crossed its response threshold and passed human review. Filling it would take an afternoon and would make every other claim on this site worthless, so it stays empty until it honestly is not.
Will any of these rules change?
They are written as constraints precisely so they cannot be quietly relaxed. If one ever does change, it will be visible rather than silently applied — the record of readings taken under the old rule does not disappear, which makes a quiet change hard to hide.

One situation a day. Your prediction, locked. Then the number.
